Recently, the pop sensation, aged 30, unveiled black and white clips from the early recording sessions of her Billboard Hot 100 hit “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love),” which soared to the top spot in mid-March. Excitedly, the Wicked star captioned the Instagram post with, “found some more behind the scenes of We Can’t Be Friends and couldn’t wait to share with you…”
In the video, Grande is shown “constructing the initial two melody drafts, which eventually formed the bridge as we know it today,” alongside co-writer and producer Max Martin. Additionally, the video features the “initial voice recording I sent to [songwriter Ilya Salmanzadeh] after receiving the original beat,” she explained in the caption.
The founder of R.E.M. Beauty expressed, “This song has a deeply meaningful significance to me, and I am incredibly grateful for the continuous love and support you have shown towards it.” The track “We Can’t Be Friends” serves as the second single from Grande’s seventh album, “Eternal Sunshine,” which made its debut at the top of the Billboard 200 chart. Preceding it, “Yes, And?” was unveiled as the lead single from the album under Republic Records, securing the top spot in January.
On her Instagram post, Grande hinted at the upcoming release of another single from “Eternal Sunshine.”
