The side part looks great on all hair types and lengths. A deep side parting will come in handy whether you want to style a bob with a deep side parting to add strength and highlight your best features or tame your long, thick hair into an elegant updo. We have gathered 25 side-parted hairstyle options for you to try if you have also been bored trying middle-parted hairstyles. Add some extra effort to your side-parting to achieve a flattering look.
1. Scrunchie-style updo
Ponytails can be found everywhere. I prefer the large ones. Make a side part and a low ponytail for this ponytail updo. Then braid your hair in your preferred braid. Make a simple braid at the back of your hair, secure it with bobby pins, and place the scrunchie on top of the bun. How simple is this hairstyle?
2. Hairstyle with mixed braids
Create a side part. Then, on one side of your head, do a Dutch braid and a French braid on the other. When you get to the back, join the two braids and begin making a herringbone braid. The key to this hairstyle is to make each braid unique. Finish the fishtail braid with an elastic, and your hairstyle is complete!
3. Braided headband
You can create a lovely headband braid with just your hair and a few bobby pins. Create a side part. Take a strand at the nape of your neck and braid it into a four-strand braid in a V shape.
Mist the top of your hair with water. Then, wrap the braid around your head and secure it with a bobby pin at the top. Secure the braid’s end at the nape of the neck beneath the rest of the hair. You have a headband now!
4. Updo with a single knot
Make a side part on one side of your hair. Working in sections, begin tying knots at the base of the head, following the side parting. You can make as many knot rows as you want. I completed three rows.
Repeat on the other side of the head. Because you have less space, two rows will suffice. Next, take all your hair and tie as many knots as possible, pinning it with bobby pins as needed. Make a low bun in the back of your hair, spray it with hairspray, and you’re done!
5. Bobby Pin Art Updo
2023 is the year to flaunt your bobby pins. Begin with a side part. Then begin designing on the thicker side. You can personalize your design. From the parting to the ear, secure the pattern with bobby pins. Make a ballerina bun with the parting behind the ear. Next, wrap the front part of your hair in a circle around the bun. Your hairstyle is complete when you secure it with bobby pins.
6. Side parted updo inspired by Queen Elizabeth II
Create a side part. Secure the rest of your hair with a small strand from the nape of your neck. Make two cross braids and pin them in place with bobby pins. Begin a lace braid by letting the hair hang loosely over the forehead, then braid to the ear and finally to the ends.
Gather the remaining hair and create two three-strand braids. Braid 10 cm down on both braids and make a pancake ONLY on the inside of the braid to give it more volume. Add the elastics, then take one of the braids and pin it to the top sideways, but only on the top of the head. Pin the braid to your head’s sides. Make a small bun with the ends of your hair in the back.
7. Clip-on butterfly braid
Paper clips, from big ones to cute little ones like the ones below, are all the rage in 2023. Make a side parting and braid three strands to one side to create this butterfly braid. Fold the braid down and pin it to your head with bobby pins. Then, attach your clips to the ends of your braid updo.
8. Chinese ladder braiding
This braid is for you if you want to stand out from the crowd! Begin with a deep side part and finish with a medium or low ponytail. Begin by taking a small piece of the ponytail and knotting it around it; continue adding small pieces by tying knots around it until it is completely covered. Finish with an elastic, and you’re done!
9. Updo with Spanish flowers
This pretty Spanish-inspired hairstyle is simple: parting the hair to one side and pinning it to the other. Braid a five-strand braid to the end of your hair and secure it with an elastic.
10. A braided hat updo
Why wear a hat when you can make one out of your hair? This braided beret updo is easily achieved by parting a part in front with the parting to one side and then parting behind the ear on the thicker side. Then, braid the front section and secure it with bobby pins in a circular motion, leaving a small amount of braid on the brow. Make a circular bun at the back of your hair and secure it with bobby pins to complete your updo!
11. Braided rope
One of the essential side parts of hairstyles is the rope braid. It is created by twisting two strands of hair in opposite directions and twisting them together. The image shows you can begin at the hairline and work to the tip.
12. A half bun
The high half bun is an excellent substitute. So discovering this variation, ideal for our side part hairstyle list, was a revelation. Half-up alien buns are similar to space buns. To balance, add a bit of volume on the opposite side.
13. False sidecut
This side-parting hairstyle is a side parting. It accomplishes this by using beach braids or root braids that fall and rest on the shoulder. The other side is worn loosely, ideally with movement.
14. Semi-formal with flowers
We all have days when we want to wear our hair down. However, one detail can make all the difference: pin a strand to the side with a bobby pin and embellish it with a bouquet of natural flowers or a headdress.
15. A bubble braid
If braiding isn’t your thing, try this side-parted hairstyle. Why? Because while it appears to be a braid at first glance, it is not. To make this fake braid, have several small elastics on hand. You can continue it as a bubble braid at the extension.
16. The wet-effect
We couldn’t leave out styles for short hair in this collection of side-parting hairstyles. A job can be sufficient to indicate the desired direction. To emphasize it, apply the wet effect to the rest of your hair and wear it attached.
17. Featuring appliqué
Side-part hairstyles are ideal for experimenting with contrasting volumes. Try pinning up one side of your hair with an XL buckle or glitter applique in this collection. The rest of the hair was left natural, with loose curls.
18. Barette
Choose a curved buckle just above your platinum blonde bob, similar to one of those earrings that runs along the ear cartilage. The focal point of the look is undeniably there, but you styled your hair to the side with a minimal bob and a fall over the face.
19. Loop, Inverted
This look is romantic and has a vintage feel, which we adore. To make this side-swept loop, twist the hair back on itself but leave it loose to achieve the desired volume. Back hair can be worn in a bun or a ponytail.
20. Polished
As previously stated, the wet effect is viral. This is a different option, but it has the same appearance. To achieve it, trace the side parting, apply a little gel, and tightly comb the hair to the height of the ears. The gel is your ally in this style.
21. Bubble semi-collected
We adore the bubble pony and the various options it provides. It’s also available in our selection of side partings with a semi-updo. Section a strand of hair to the side and secure it with a silicone rubber band to achieve this look. Add another strand and secure it. Continue until you reach the ear. Then create more sections. To achieve the bubble effect, gently pull on the sides of each section to add volume, then repeat.
22. Frizz + XL bun
Are you up for having all frizzy hair? If you said yes, we dare you to go a step further. Draw a side part, add some accent braids, and, why not, an XL bun? And there you have another of our favorite side-part hairstyles.
23. Adorned with feathers
Unexpected details create unique looks. To add movement and texture to her side part, she chose black feathers that contrasted with her red hair. They can also be the same color as you and look fantastic.
24. The half tail
This side-parting half-tail takes us to the heart of the popular ’90s hairstyles. The colored geometric buckles are a bonus that complements it perfectly.
25. Embroidered braid
A side parting hairstyle that has stood the test of time and fashion is to draw the parting to the side and weave a sewn or French braid on one of the sides, weaving it backward. When you reach the section of hair with the most volume, secure it with a clip and conceal the end.
